Oble secure a double win for hit dramas Gold Diggers and A Good Man with Walter Presents in Australia and New Zealand.
Yellow, Black and White Studio and its streamer service START announce a new partnership with French producer and distributor Oble for the exclusive global tape and format distribution rights of the original three seasons of START’s hit drama ‘Gold Diggers’ aka as Russian Affairs (24 x 52min episodes/8 eps per season). The new relationship also sees Oble secure the first international acquisition of a START tense nine-part psychological drama A Good Man.
Paris-based Oble cemented the new agreement with the sale of all three seasons of Gold Diggers and A Good Man to Walter Presents in both Australia and New Zealand, building on the recent acquisition of Gold Diggers by Walter Presents UK. Both series will be available exclusively on Walter Presents available on Australian streaming platform Stan, and on TVNZ On Demand in New Zealand. Furthermore, CJE&M, South Korea’s largest film and television company has also acquired Gold Diggers through Oble, giving the popular series its Asian debut.
Gold Diggers is a glittering, addictive Russian drama about the high-stakes relationships between money, power and sex. Directed by Konstantin Bogomolov and Irina Sosnovaya as a showrunner, the show has been a smash hit in Russia since its 2019 launch securing the top spot for each series with approx. over 15 million viewers.
“We’ve been keeping a close eye on the productions of START and YBW, and strongly believed in the international potential of Gold-Diggers from the beginning. A Good Man comes hot on the heels, being incredibly well researched, scripted and produced, and has all qualities we’ve come to expect from YBW and START. We’re thrilled the audience will have the chance to discover these glittering dramas in English-speaking countries thanks to our Walter partnership and in South Korea thanks to CJEM”, said Katia Sol, co-founder at Oble.
Psychological drama, A Good Man follows a young policewoman played by Julia Snigir (Young Pope, The Blood Widow) brought in to investigate the increasing number of unsolved murders of young women in the local area, unbeknown to her the killer is hiding in plain sight.
Walter says, ‘Tense, gripping and all the more-scary for knowing it’s based on real events, ‘A Good Man’ is a riveting psychological thriller based on the case of Russia’s most prolific serial killer. The gap between appearances and reality has never felt so shocking - prepare to be glued to your screens.’
“Oble has a fantastic grasp on the global potential of non-english language drama illustrated by A Good Man and Gold Diggers being two of the first acquisitions for Walter Presents’ new antipodean platform. We’re delighted to extend our relationship with Oble”, - said Daria Bondarenko, EVP International Sales, Acquisitions, and Co-production, Yellow, Black and White Group.
